Upstairs, you'll find three spacious double bedrooms along with a second family bathroom complete with a bath, ideal for relaxing after a day exploring the Isle of Wight.

Outside, the private garden provides a peaceful space to relax and enjoy the fresh sea air. The dining room opens directly onto a terrace with outdoor seating, making it easy to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine or dine al fresco on warm evenings. A barbecue is also available for guests looking to make the most of outdoor living during their stay.

Our Favourite Places in Ventnor

Ventnor is full of fantastic places to eat, drink and explore, and one of the things we love most is that so much is within walking distance of the cottage. Here are some of our favourite spots to help you make the most of your stay.

If you have a sweet tooth, don't miss CRAVE on the seafront. Their homemade ice cream flavours change daily, so there's always something new to try.

For dinner, The Smoking Lobster is one of our top recommendations. Right on the seafront, it serves incredible Pan-Asian seafood with beautiful sea views. If you're looking for a more intimate evening, head to its sister restaurant, The Drunken Lobster, in the town centre. It's perfect for cocktails and sharing plates.

Another favourite is Tramezzini – True Food Kitchen, which offers fantastic Pan-Asian dishes alongside meat and vegetarian options. The same team also run the restaurant at Castlehaven, which is well worth a visit on a sunny day.

If you're looking for brunch or somewhere that's reliably open on a Monday, Cantina is always a great choice, with a seasonal menu showcasing local ingredients.

For something a little different, take the short walk to The Bonchurch Inn. This charming village pub serves authentic Italian food in a wonderfully quirky setting. We'd recommend booking ahead as it's very popular.

For a relaxed lunch by the sea, The Seapot is a great choice, especially if you enjoy fresh seafood, while Toni's Tea Room is ideal for coffee and homemade cake. If you fancy a traditional pub, The Spyglass Inn has one of the best locations on the seafront and is perfect for a pint with a view.

If you'd rather cook at the cottage, call into Ventnor Haven Fishery early in the morning for some of the freshest local seafood on the island. And if you've had your fill of seafood, Stripped serves excellent burgers and pizzas.

One of our favourite walks is the coastal path to Steephill Cove. It's one of the prettiest spots on the Isle of Wight, with a handful of cafés and independent shops tucked away beside the beach. While you're there, stop by The Crab Shed for one of their famous crab pasties or a mackerel ciabatta, best enjoyed with a glass of rosé overlooking the sea.

For those who enjoy walking, Ventnor has some spectacular routes. The climb up to Ventnor Downs rewards you with breathtaking views across the coastline, and there are plenty of other walks to discover. If you're venturing a little further, we highly recommend True Food Kitchen at Castlehaven for lunch on a sunny day. The outdoor seating overlooks the sea, and it's a lovely place to combine with a walk towards St Catherine's Lighthouse.

Nearby, Rocken End Beach is one of the island's quietest beaches, even in the height of summer, while Shanklin offers watersports, independent shops and traditional tea rooms. Families always enjoy a visit to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, which is free to enter.

If you're exploring the wider island, take the scenic coastal drive to Freshwater, stopping at The Sun Inn along the way. Sunset drinks or dinner at The Hut are always memorable, and seafood lovers should make time for The Best Dressed Crab.

We also recommend walking across Tennyson Down for some of the most spectacular views on the Isle of Wight, visiting Osborne House, Queen Victoria's former holiday home, spending an afternoon in the sailing town of Cowes, or calling into The Garlic Farm, where you'll find a restaurant, farm shop and beautiful countryside walks.
